Kosturi is a restaurant competing with two other curry houses on Hayes’ small High Street and they rose to the competition when a group of us turned up on a recent Saturday night.
Hayes’ other Indian restaurants couldn’t be more different. Asha, is at the low-end, late night vindaloo end of the spectrum, while Ginger is at the more modern, slightly pretentious end. Kosturi sits nicely in the middle.
Their chef came out and spoke to us to make sure everything was as we wanted. Although some of the others said theirs were a little bland, I had a lamb vindaloo special which was absolutely red hot. It was gorgeous but I definitely knew about it the next day! They also scored a bonus point for making Korma loving Mini-Vinny try something more respectable!

The management of Kosturi clearly pride themselves on what they do but they don’t fall in to the trap of becoming too poncey. As a group of lads at the end of quite a boozy day, we were made to feel welcome and well looked after. Good work!
