The packaging is striking. With its distinctive yellow label and playful name, it’s a real ale that hopes to appeal to lager louts as well as beer snobs!
The beer is clear pale golden and slightly carbonated. It provides a pleasant flowery aroma and its taste is crisp with a strong fruity bitterness. With curry, its citrusy bite beats the heat and its refreshing subtle fizz cleanses spicy sauces from the pallet.
We all know beer and curry are a match made in heaven but it’s about time there was a widely available alternative to the usual lagers. Unlike pubs, who are usually controlled by big breweries, Indian restaurants are mainly independent, so if they find a demand for craft beers, hopefully Bombay Blonde could become a fixture at curry houses up and down the country.
SUMMARY
Type of Beer: Golden Ale
Availability: Unfortunately very rare at the moment.
Drink with: Tandoori and tikka dishes. The intense zesty flavour lifts the meat and cuts through the spice.
Alcohol Volume: 4.5%
Final Word: This is a great beer and I hope it becomes a household name.
