Sad news this week that England will lose one of the few great characters left in modern football. On transfer deadline day it was confirmed that Manchester City’s Italian striker, Mario Balotelli is to leave these shores to return to Milan.
Balotelli has constantly hit the headlines for his involvement in a number of crazy stunts, including setting off a firework in his home and causing a fire just 36 hours before a massive derby with local rivals Manchester United.

But my personal favourite barmy Balotelli story was when he broke curfew before City's clash with Chelsea. ‘Super Mario’ ignored the strict rules put in place by boss Robert Mancini for a late night visit to Indian restaurant ‘Zouk’ in Manchester city centre.
He was said to have entertained fellow diners by performing a mock sword fight with a pal using rolling pins as weapons. It is believed that he was fined a week’s wages for the indiscretion, meaning his curry cost him over £150,000.

Okay, the bloke’s an absolute lunatic but anyone that is prepared to spend £150 grand on a Saturday night ruby is alright with me.
