Sonargaon, West Wickham

The CCB returned to West Wickham this week to visit the newly renovated Sonargaon restaurant.  Sonargaon stands out among the other Indian restaurants in the area with its smart décor and vibrant atmosphere. 

It needs to, located just down the road from the main high street in West Wickham they face huge competition.  Blue Bengal,  Curry Corner,  Curry House,  Diwana  and  Zeera Spice are all a short distance away.

The first thing I noticed when walking in was how lively it is.  Even on a Wednesday evening, it was buzzing.  The restaurant is large, very smart and modern but keeps enough of an authentic South Asian feel. 

 

To start I had Garlic Aubergine.  Baked aubergine steaks, stuffed with cheese and potatoes and sesame seeds, topped with spiced tomatoes, served with garlic.  Seemed a more Mediterranean style dish than you would usually find in an Indian restaurant but it was very satisfying and a classy start.

For main course I had Lamb Methi Gosth Special , vindaloo hot.  Beautifully spiced, really enjoyable and with the perfect amount of chilli kick!

As side dishes I had the creamy and delicious Sag Paneer  and  Malai Naan, which is stuffed with assorted cheese and chillies - right up my street!  A really nice and unusual bread.

Very impressive. We would definitely return.
