Taste of India, Beckenham

Wednesday 5th September 2012

This week, Beckenham was the destination  -  well I would’ve said Elmers End but according to their business card it’s Beckenham  -  they’re probably trying to make it sound posher!  Taste of India was one of the first Indian restaurants in the area and to some, it might seem dated.  As far as I’m concerned though, it’s maintained its old school atmosphere, which is definitely a good thing.

For starter, I had chicken kebab.  It was tasty but very dry, it really needed some sort of sauce to go with it.  Others had more luck with their entrĂ©es and by all accounts, the tandoori chicken was excellent!

Again, the main courses had a mixed response.  A couple of us had Balti’s, which seemed to have a lot of onion, similar to a jalfrezi.  Not everyone was keen but I did enjoy it.

The staff were courteous and friendly.  At the end, they personally thanked us for choosing their restaurant and offered us drinks on the house which we appreciated.
