Jail Time for Curry Con Man

Following on from hair-gate at curry club last week - when curryspondent Murali found a hair in his lamb samosa – a man has been jailed for trying to get a free curry by putting pubic hair on the remains of his lamb bhuna!               
        

Hair-brained scheme: Lee Tyers

Lee Tyers, 40, was caught on CCTV putting his hands down the front of his trousers as he sat in the Jamal Indian restaurant in Middlesbrough town centre.

Tyers and a friend ordered two lamb bhunas along with pilau rice, naan bread, drinks, a chapati and a shish kebab.  After the pair had eaten their meal, Tyers complained to waiting staff that he had found the hair in his food, in an attempt to get out of paying the £39.55 bill.  

Restaurant owner Jamal Chowdhury said: "I told him all the staff have black hair and this is brown - it’s not our hair."  However the pair left the restaurant without paying.

Tyers denied a charge of fraud by false representation but was found guilty by magistrates at Teesside Magistrates' Court.  He was jailed for two weeks and ordered to pay £39.55 compensation.  [Link]
