Indian Ocean, Bromley

When a few of the usual suspects visited Chatterton Arms in Bromley, we had a choice between two curry houses right across the road - the celebrated ‘Shampan 2’ and the brand new ‘Indian Ocean’.  We chose the lesser known of the neighbours.

Indian Ocean is on the site of the old ‘Ruby’ restaurant and the well-travelled head waiter from Shampan 2 has moved on in an attempt to get this new restaurant off the ground and rival his old bosses.

Having just opened, it was very quiet but this meant we were really extremely well looked after.

MENU - Quite varied range of recommendations, and all the usual’s                              7/10
HEAT – Respectable, didn't choose a massively hot dish though.                                   6/10
SETTING - Good location opposite pub - but it does have to compete with Shampan 2  6/10
SERVICE - Very quick – It wasn’t busy though                                                                7/10
STAFF - Really attentive and very friendly                                                                      9/10
BEER - "Mongoose Lager"! Cobra was cheaper than next door (so we were told!)           8/10
PRICE - About £27 a head, including 2 beer rounds and 2 flaming Sambuca’s!              8/10
ATMOS – Enjoyable. It was very quiet but it’s early days                                                5/10
OPENING HOURS – 11:30 but I’m sure it would stay open late                                        7/10

BONUS - Free starter each, free dish to share, and offered complimentary round           10/10

They were out to impress and they succeeded.  It’s a new venue, so room for improvement and potentially an even higher score.

Really enjoyed it.
