Rupali, Coventry

25th April 2012
Submitted by 'Boiler Bag'
During the week commencing 23rd April 2012, I found myself working at the N.E.C for 1 week. When I found out that Double O (Rich) was also working a short distance away, a midweek meet up for a Midlands style curry was a definite priority.  Double O decided that the Rupali just outside Coventry would be our chosen venue.

SCORE:
MENUAll the traditional dishes, plus loads of specialities. The Sylheti Chicken Jalfrezi is one
such specialty which was nominated best dish in the country by some International Chef and
TV star…apparently.  Starters were excellent – including one really hot one.
                                          8/10

HEATThe Chicken Tikka Naga was definitely up to scratch, one of the hottest I’ve had of
that dish. Large portions ensured you didn’t go hungry!                                                                             7/10

SETTINGBased on a small shopping parade just outside the Coventry ring road made it easy
to find and park. Well situated in a residential area.                                                                                   7/10

SPEEDNot the quickest but it wasn’t like we were in a rush to leave quick or anything so all good... 6/10

WAITERS
Very friendly, attentive and just seemed like alright blokes really!                                        8/10

BEER Cobra and Kingfisher on draught, Cobra Zero if you’re driving plus Strongbow and
Magners if you happen to be Mini Vinny… Seriously, they had a wide range of drinks  there                  8/10

PRICE – Certainly not one of the cheapest places I’ve eaten.                                                                     6/10

ATMOS – The place reminded me of The Bombay in Green St Green (to be reviewed). Usual
Indian music, similar lighting etc. Wasn’t very busy but then again it was about 7:30 pm
on a Wednesday night…
                                                                                                                                 7/10

OPEN HRS11pm, but reckon if you got there late they wouldn’t turn you away.                                        6/10

BONUS – No obvious bonuses but that doesn’t change the fact that it was a really good venue.                6/10

Total:  69%
papadam carousel with 5 dips instead of the usual 4!
